I haven't yet done the chore, but I have done a lot of measuring and conceptual pre-fit work. I'm fitting an older style 9000 onto a 1982 900 with AC. As is I would have to shave quite a lot from the front air dam for it to fit. However, there's considerable space between the AC condensor and the radiator, perhaps as much as an inch. So my plan is to shorten that distance in half by bending the condensor mounting brackets and redrilling the screw holes at the top of the radiator housing. I've also decided that the entire IC will fit as is without removing any of the rows. Extensive re-fashioning of the end tanks and repositioning the in and out ports will be necessary. Some surrounding metal will need to be removed or bent from around (radiator housing, towing eyes, headlight housing) where I'm intending to run the new ports. As far as piping, I plan to use a combination of the 9000 piping, plus some stock IC tubing and the rubber couplings from both. Because I'm custom fashioning the end tanks and in/out ports, the design plan is to make it easy to connect with the available piping and rubber fittings, without extreme bends. I intend to take still pics of the proceedure with my DV cam and post them here.
