The Pilot Sports will run you about $230 a tire - heat cycled from Tire Rack. They grip as good as the Hoosiers on the track, maybe even a bit more. They've never gotten greasy on me. They do fairly well in the rain when new (for a race tire ;-). They seem to wear fairly good: I've done about 16 Solo 2, 2 Solo Trails (on track), and a full open track event; occasionally I drive them to the event. And the tires are about dead now, but I'm hoping they will last another month; I've had them about a year. I haven't seen anyone running the Toyo's or Corsa's, so I can't form an opinion...
The problem with them for the Solo stuff is getting the heat into them. It takes a bit more than a Solo run to get them sticky. Not a problem on the track though.
I've only run them on Second Creek Raceway here in Colorado. The coarse is tight, very hard on brakes and tires, and has quite a few real rough spots. With the Michelins, I was keeping up with a BMW 330 (modified to SCCA SoloII DSP specs and running the Hoosiers) being driven by a couple of national champions.
My only complaint is that they get so sticky, they'll throw rubber & debris all over the side of my car...
