My 2000 Viggen's side strips are medium grey color with an almost sandy texture. It's apparent when I look closely at these pieces that they were that way from new. This is not a case of black fading to grey.
In fact I assumed all 9-3's were that way. Anyway, relax... sounds like your's are just the way the factory intended. And IMHO they look good this way.
