i think everyone's right, it was originally grey, but i too wasn't a big fan of it either, since it looked to the average joe like it had faded in the sun. only people who really know viggens realize that's the way it was intended to look. not liking the the original grey look - i removed the side trim parts( they easily pops off ) and applied "forever black" to it. it's a dye that last much longer than meguires "back to black" - but you have to be careful putting it on that it doesn't get on the paint ( don't ask how i know ). my second application i got wise and used some electrical tape to mask the paint on the front/rear bumpers while i applied it. i would estimate 3 applications/year would keep it looking good. mine's starting to thin in spots, so it's time for another go-round.... it really does look good though, worth the trouble, imho. forever black is around $13/kit, which includes cleaner and dye. search online for it, i haven't been able to source it anywhere locally.
good luck
greg
