i noticed significant difference on my stock set up post-install of the 9000 fmic. i saw the website test as well.
on my set up, i was running 18-20psi on he stock ic and a t3-60 turbo. timing was run through the msd btm and max timing retard set around 9.5-10.5. i had problems with heat soak on the dyno and could not keep the ic cool enough to prevent apc intervention and subsequent boost cutback. my best run w/the stock ic was around 179 whp( a result of boost cut and timing retard).
with the 9000 fmic, i immediately noticed a difference in the solidness of boost. i was able to hold a solid steady 18-20 psi and was also able to advance timing. max retard was then set at 11-11.5 dbtdc. these two combined yielded my next dyno run at 200 whp. no, the fmic did not give me 20 whp, but it did enable the engine to run better and stronger and 'freed' up that extra 20 ponies.
so i argue that numbers are good for reference, but they don't tell the full story. or maybe a fmic with no back pressure isn't a good thing...
