fmic do work if you pick the right one for your application. If do not pick the right one then it is only a restrictor slowing you down. Do you always have to use the best? mybe not.
In terms of the 9000ic vs. the 900ic it hard to say what the real story is. The 900ic is so small and it is not really placed in the best location. I would bet any fmic is better then the stock ic. I've also seen where people have had good increase in boost with just adding a fan on the 900ic to get a better air flow.
Why not get the best, if the cost is low? Why take the gamble and have to do the upgrade twice when you can do it right the first time? How much money is your time worth?
Is back pressure really a good thing? If so then why are people wasting their money on exhausts and downpipes? It really doesn't make sense to me. A turbocharged system works best with as little back pressure as possible, this is why we do these upgrades or at least I've been told.
