Frank I have a 9.3 conv. If ever there was a car with a blind spot (roof up of course)...
Apparently in Europe they have a driver's side mirror that is 2 stage like the passenger one. US regulations won't allow it. So not having one of those, here is how I have adjusted mine. Perhaps it will work for you.
I adjust both mirrors so that if a tilt my head (and only my head) just a bit in the direction of the mirror, I can barely see the edge of the door handle in the lower inside corner. It is rather disconcerting at first, I was used to seeing the rear corner in the mirror, passenger side especially. Now that I have done it fo a while it seems natural. Now this may not work for you, I am much shorter if you have to put the seat all the way back, but it does work for my room mate who is 6'4". Give it a try.
