My engine builder said I should adhere to the following:


First 2 hrs of idling with 5 mins of 2,000 rpm every half hour on competition running in oil;

Then new filter, 10W40 dino juice for the next 1,500 kms/1,000ish miles

Then new filter, and full synthetic.


He also told me to keep it under 3,500 rpm for the first 1,000 km, then go to 4,500 max. For the 1,000-1,500 km interval, I more or les upped my rev limit from 4,000 with 100 rpm every 100 km.

Before changing the oil at 1,7xx kms, but after reaching 1,500 I did use most of the throttle every once in a while for short bursts (typically overtaking) but I second you should not drive it hard before checking A/F on a dyno or with wideband O2 road tuning.


I just put in the full synth - before that, oil consumption was negligible (as in: I could not establish any between sorting an oil leak twice) - let's hope it stays that way...
