Certainly Johnny at Maptun has told me that the Platinum plugs seem to be hard to clear when fouled. 9000 drivers who have used them seem happier with the "6" heat range then the "7"s even in an Aero (225 bhp manual).

I bought a set of Platinum "7" heat range plugs for my CSE, which has about 210 bhp, and on a dyno the platinum plugs reduced the power output by a tiny amount, say 2 bhp. I posted them off to another 9kt driver in the States - don't know what he made of them, never hear back.

Personally, I reckon 9000 drivers should stick with the standard BCPR7-ES for any application short of really stupid power outputs, when I suppose all bets are off and you need to experiment.

As far as gaps are concerned, I stay with .9 mm and knock them back if and when they get up to 1.0, with new plugs every 10,000 miles or sooner if I feel like opening the thing up. But then I have auto transmission and don't go for the high boost levels. My JT exhaust seems to make the car more flexible so I don't use such large throttle openings and the transmission doesn't change down so much.

I'm based in the UK and normally use Shell Optimax fuel, which is rated 98 octane (different scale from US but still the best you can get here).
