In light of my upcoming head swap I decided to make a few "evaluation runs" to get a sense of how inadequate the current turbo is. Enter 1 5/16" bolt into the center hose no longer connected to APC solenoid.

1st gear: tire smoke
2nd gear: tire smoke, followed by massive boost taper in upper revs. Boost peaks around 22psi when traction exists, then quickly falls into the 15-17 range at redline.
3rd gear: tire chirp, more taper, not as drastic. Peaks at around 25psi tapering to 18 at redline.
4th gear: holds 27 psi
5th gear: "uhhh, I think thats a crown vic up there dude, yep its got a light bar!" Thank you Greenstuff brake pads. Thank you officer for looking the other direction.

In conclusion, the Mitsu turbo sucks. It must go. The APC sucks. It also must go. The fun factor without it is so much higher.

FWIW my A/F gauge monkey reports 2 bars rich through 4th gear all the way to redline. I know of the limited trust one is to place on said device, but the solid rich reading reassures me that the engine is okay after this debauchery. Once the 2.3L head, intake manifold, huge turbo and EBC are installed, it goes to the dyno to see if I will need additional injectors.

Setup that made me think I could get away with this stupidity:
Spearco FMIC
Aquamist H20 injection, 1.0mm jet
Accel 30lb/hr injectors
2.8bar FPR
Brad's AID
Magnecor wires
7EV plugs
