The block has been wire wheeled, deburred and painted (DIY) at least
twice. The head has been in the shop a half dozen times, and every time
they take it apart and bead blast it. The exh manifold/turbo/downpipe
are all JetHot coated, which stays pretty clean. The intake manifold &
some other parts are bead blasted. It just takes time.
IN addition I removed tons of stuff that probably makes the engine
compartment seem more roomy and 'clean' -- APC control box & solenoid,
knock sensor, coil, distributor, spark plug wires, A/C compressor & condenser
& evaporator & temp sensor & WOT switch, "shift up" temp switch & 5th
gear switch, throttle body heater loop, throttle dashpot, battery, intercooler
(now FMIC), cruise control pump, pressure & vacuum switches, extraneous/
unused wiring, etc.
