On our company's Fedex digital scale, the weight in pounds:
9" c900 Turbo setup (same as 9000 up to '93)
flywheel ~21.0 (this is an educated guess - anyone weighed one?)
pressure plate 9.35
friction disc 3.10
Total: 33.45
For about $75 you can get the stock flywheel lightened, say 5 pounds:
flywheel: 16.0
New total: 28.45
And if you got the bux, for $525 you can go with the SD aluminum flywheel
and really get some weight out:
flywheel 9.20
New total: 21.65
Here you are restricted to the usual dilema: if you want it to drive like
stock, you can't put more than 250-270hp through it (for instance w/ SD's
$300 kevlar disc setup). If you want more power capacity, you must use
a more aggressive disc (copper puck, anyone?) that can chatter and have
harsh engagement. Some race discs actually eat the PP and flywheel before
wearing out!
Then you have this new QuarterMaster deal. I weighed mine at 18.20 pounds,
complete. It has organic discs for smooth engagement but huge power capacity.
And although engagement is quick, it doesn't take long for your left leg to "learn"
how to work it. I drove a c900 with it, but mine is not installed in Saabotage yet. :(
Unfortunately the QM is the most expensive option on this list. If you are interested,
call ScanWest for a quote -- they are the exclusive supplier.
