The cat will fail and will then foul up and be restrictive. And the O2 sensor will fail and you will be on CEL and loose mixture control. So thats not much of a performance improvement!
I don't know if all AV gas is leaded. If there is lead there should be a sticker on the pump to that effect.
More octane than the engine system needs is a waste. You can add toluene and xylene to premiun pump gas to see if the added octane makes any difference to how the engine runs. One gallon of a 50:50 mix in a tank will improve by two octane numbers. IE from 92 --> 94.
Do not use off the shelf octane boosters. These are too tiny to do anything. When those products talk about increasing octane by 4 points, they are really talking about going from 92.0 octane to 92.4 octane.
If you find that the engine runs better on higher octane after enhancing the pump gas, water injection would be a better long term sulution. Also you might try colder plugs so see if that is all that is required. And make sure that your injectors are clean by using Techron Concentrate prior to making any final decisions. Do two treated tanks of fuel if not used before.
What modifications now?
