I saw chad post about a plug thread problem & I thought of typing about this then but dident for some reason
DONT USE THE CYLINDRICAL INSERTS YOU WILL REGRET IT
ise only helicoils
1 there stainless steel
2 they dont come out the next time you pull the plug out leaving an oversized poorly threaded hole
the problem with the cylindrical inserts & believe me Ive dealt with this issue on many occaision
is what #2 above says helicoils dont doo
Ive tried peening & or staking them in used red locktight none does anything they 90%of the time the insert will back out with the next plug change & are near impossible to get off the plug
so friends dont let friends use those stupid inserts
with a helicoil plug insert you can reach in there with a set of needle nose pliers to get the tang out or break it & let it fall into the cylinder & fish it out with a magnet
take care
JAK
