I'm already on edge while driving around trying to avoid any potholes or even larger bumps in the road. Everyone knows 17" viggen rims aren't known to be bend resistant! If you use 18" wheels you would definitely want "forged" aluminum. That means they use mechanical force to compact the aluminum, to make it much stronger than standard cast (viggen) wheels. Even if you don't bend the wheels, hitting bumps with low profile tires can cause bubbles to form on the sidewall of the tire. Either way, the larger you go the more financial risk you take. BTW, I saw a car magazine comparison using different size wheel/tires, using the same brand of each. The 17" did the best performance wise in the road course tests.
