Hmm...where to start?
To begin with, you chose wrong engine. B234 shortblock engine is much more tunable, shorter and has heads that breathe better.
Nevermind...you can start with doing usual stuff like fiddling with APC, better exhaust and filter etc. Will gain you max ~200hp.
Next:
1. bigger injectors
2. re-maped Bosch-LH
3. bigger MAF-sensor
Lets say ~250hp for this
Then:
1. Bigger / better turbo (Mitsu TD04-19 is good)
2. Extractor headers
3. Hotter cams / solid lifters
4. Megasquirt/ HAltech etc. (any MAP-based ECU will do)
Lets say max ~330 hp for that
Then it starts to get interesting:
1. JT pistons, Verdi rods
2. Fully ported heads
3. Balanced crank
4. Garrett GT35 turbo
5. Very good intercooler
6. *lots* of boost
7. Dry sump.
Say max 500hp from that...but by then you'll be killing the gearboxes every day.
I wish you good luck, it looks really fun!
/Goran
P.S. We have similar project, but with real gearbox and T5 engine:
