At his boost levels, the smaller gaps at those pressures and temperatures might create ionization conductances that make the DI want to go into knock avoidance. That would be retarded timing and reduced boost if using the BPC valve. The stock DI system probably has some limits of that nature. So optimal boost levels may require the larger gaps as Nick and Dr Boost have stated.
So its really about setting the gap to make the DI happy while delivering high HP levels. I have not seen anything suggesting anything like detonation, not details posted either. Just not optimal power I expect.
