I have run Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my last several cars, including two Saabs with no problems. In my 1984 Saab 900T, I used Mobil 1 5w30 or 10w30 in the engine, changing the oil and filter evry 5,000 miles. I used Redline MTL in the 5-speed, changing it every 60,000 miles. When she died at 242,000 miles, the engine had never been opened except for valve adjust, the original turbo was still going strong, and I had the original transmission. I ran a tweaked Group 6 APC, Group 6 sport exhaust, stainless brake lines, PBR Deluxe pads, e-code headlights, and K&N filter.
I had a couple minor engine oil leaks, but nothing unusual for an high mileage car. Maybe a half a quart every 5,000 miles. No transmission leaks at all.
