stock saab bearings are fine. when my engine was rebuilt over two years ago, i replaced the bearings with stock. i have since been running 7000 rpm redline and aftermarket ecu with no problems.
for those having rod knock after short periods of time from engine rebuild, bearing material is more than likely not the culprit unless cheap aftermarket bearings were used. if the assembly is not clean, bearings not installed correctly (seated completely), improper size installed, too much fuel dumped into engine, etc. these can all cause the rod to "loosen" up on the crank in a short timeframe.
keep in mind some parts are necessary, others are sales pitches. you will get good support from the vendors on this site, just make sure you absolutely need the "upgrade".
just my 2 cents...
