Nothing to do with lag - in my experience even burdening any FWD platform with 300 hp takes a whole lot of sympathetic engineering on the power delivery front, so why size your turbo for a 400 hp+ target? I am far less pessimistic about the feasability of a high powered FWD car than most here, but I just don't think a c900 with 350, 400 or more hp would be a very nice thing to drive quickly down a winding road.
I'm looking for the ultimate allround package within the limits of the basic design, not a headline-grabbing hp number...
