De-tuning an SPG9 APC? Any thoughts?

I bought a used SPG9 APC from a fellow saabnet'er and wow does it try to boost. I first put it in and the boost was all over the place. So I backed the timing advance down and put my trent rrfpr back on and added more fuel. Now it peaks up at 23-24 psi for a very short burst and then bounces down to about 15 psi, then back up and down etc. I'd feel much more comfortable at 19-20ish. Can I just back down one or both of the pots inside the APC?
Current setup:
88 900T Convert
24# FMS injectors
Trent rrfpr at 3 bar
Brad's advance module
SPG9 APC
K&N filter
larger IC pipes
92 octane gas
and nice cool 50 degree air temps
Thanks,
Chad
