Seriously though, I'm on tranny #2. Big torque *spikes* kill the trans, particularly the newer ones like mine, which is precisely what a big T3/T04 hybrid eliminates. Instantaneous loading cracks the case- you should have seen it! Load applied more gradually is counterbalanced by the elastic moduli of the case/gears. To a point of course- but we're talking "only" 300lb/ft here, at over 5000 RPM. The tranny is not strong by design, but I have the strongest stock one, rebuilt very carefully by a reputable shop, and more than a little first hand knowledge how not to kill it even with lots of power. Tranny life depends most on how the car is driven. Consideration must be give to trans temp, road surface, steering wheel angle, and particularly gear choice. These factors coupled with a sensible torque curve (think supercharged Honda) will get enough life out of this tranny for me to put away $$$$ for a built 4spd.

It seems like I have typed something like this before.

Look for dyno sheets here in a couple months.
