Noticing 50-60more miles to the Tank with Regular gas...

hello,
The past 4 or 5 tanks, I've been feeding my 91 9000s regular (87 octane) fuel instead of the Premium (93 oct.) its been getting since I bought the car last June. WIth premium, I was barely sqeezing 200 miles out of the tank. Regular gas is consistantly giving me about 50 to 60 more miles to the tank. Average fuel economy is 19mpg (I'm a 17 year old that drives like a moron around town). Can anyone explain the science of the better fuel economy and possible complications of filling with 87 octane? thanks guys. Also...can anyone recommend some suspension upgrades, like springs, struts, etc. I want to read up on suspension modification for my baby. Thanks.
