The results may be fuel dependant. What octane is at the pumps where you are at?
Boost delay is a huge part of the percieved power. Reducing boost delay with a SMBC can make a big difference in city driving. The SMBC does not increase peak HP, but the vehicle is much faster.
I fould that a JR filter in the stock air box made a surprising difference. The dealer had just replaced the original paper element, so my comparo was to a new Saab fitler. (When folks remove a paper element that has seen a lot of service and report that a performance fitler is different, some of their observations my be from the old filter being restrictive from dirt loading.)
In my case, with a SMBC, the boost delay that I feel is that of the turbo, not the turbo + control system delay. In this case the setup will be much more responsive to favourable changes that the control system would otherwise mask.
