We have found it to be fairly rare to encounter more than one faulty hydraulic lifter at one given time. If multiple lifters are tempermental, it might be likely that a lack of oil delivery is the culprit. Check your oil pump pressures, and make certain that there are no potential restrictions to oil delivery at the cylinder head. If an early B202 engine, check the upper bearing cap oil delivery rails. If any air is allowed in with oil delivery, the same symptoms will occur. We have found minor seal issues at the oil pick-up tube o-ring to allow for enough air into the oil delivery to create hydraulic lifter compensation issues even though oil pressures are 100%.
