Salutations:

Andy J, you wouldn't have a link covering your rallycross machine?

I'll follow up at rallycabal of course - but would dearly like to take a look at a 9000 set up for the business.

Personally, I am immensely pleased overall with the stock 93 AERO - it has just enough spice to keep life exciting in stock form. It is for us, after everything, just a seriously sporty family car.

So - what I am trying for is a longivity build that will really firm up the machine between the suspension points - then a relatively compliant set of shocks/struts and perhaps springs to make that body package move smoothly between them over consistantly rough ground.

I have been a rubber bushing man these many decades - but my last 9000 ended up chewing though some vital ones in 28 months and it's time to explore some options. I was particularly interested in steering rack/ transmission bushing upgrade and hose trick for lower mounts - I think these should really make a difference.

I noted from KevinY's site that koni requires some sort of sleeve fitting for 9000 applications. I suppose the upside is that the sleeve gets pounded out long before the hub mount. I didn't get the bolt notation - but I'll have to take a closer look next time I have our machine up.

As to tires - yes - I have some yoko's on now and will be going to something in a much taller sidewall with a snow/ice tread on a permenant basis come early fall. They last about two years and I toss them before the third winter. Been having luck with Kumho's actually.

While they are noisy on the highway - they have the advantage that they are great in heavy rain and are actually a pretty soft compound when the seat heaters finally get turned off in June around hear.. :) ..

Anyway - scanning saabnet is turning up *a lot* of opinion on all sides.

Although - I think you folks are completely right regarding rally-type set-up around here. Bet there is much to be gained by upper shock and strut braces front and rear with stock sway bays and poly bushes - anyone make a clip type upper brace so I can still stow the occasional fridge in the hatch?

Actually - anyone know where I could find a set of those hoopy cargo airbags you used to be able to get from SAAB for the 900?

J Dexter
