Hi One and all,
Well after a few years, much planning, lots of researching, and a lot of gray hair my 1990 900t is on the road. I must say that this saab, and Vince T will agree, (but Vince dose not have LSD YET), is no longer a Saab. With the new 4 speed trans(w/ LSD), 9000 brakes front and back w/ front brake bias, a lovely new engine, JE pistons, balanced crank and rods. It looks like a saab but! The first thing i noticed was the shifting, the 4 speed has a taller ratio but yet a closer ratio and the shifting is sooooo solid. Nothing like a regular transmission. I did have on my old 5 speed the short shift kit and it was a huge improvement in shifting but the 4 speed is way more user friendly. The next thing was the LSD, i was expecting the car to pull when i went wide open on the throttle and wow it stayed as straight as an arrow. I did a few laps around a trafic circle and it was amazing! Wow i can actually say i have oversteer rather than a bunch of understeer when hammering the throttle at the apex of a corner. I had also moved the rear axle forward in the wheel well. It has made the car a little more choppy but it seems to corner a bit tighter than before. I must say now that if there were a couple of upgrades i would do if i was starting from the beggining agian is the LSD and a short shift kit. Along with some suspension work your classic 900 would be a totally diffrent car even with a stock engine. I also got a 2.4lh chip from Sweddish Dynamics. With those of you out there with the same system 2.4 lh it works and it works well. There has been much talk about this, with comparison to a aftermarket ecu. I was going to do a aftermarket ecu but after long dilliberation, i felt i was not ready to go there yet, But the new chip is a excellent substitute. They increase the fuel curve and the booste taper. I istalled a wideband O2 sensor and to this point i have not seen the fuel lean out and the boost keeps coming. I will post more info on the chip in some time allowing the car to be broken in. Well after all said and done i am pretty happy with the car, i still have a bunch of work to do to it mostly little stuff, except for the FMIC and a roll bar. I am still in the process of breaking it in but i must say that i am very happy with what i have achived. Thanks to everyone out there in the saab community for helping me make this come together.
