Hey Jak, I think your high rear/low front is the problem.

I drove a similar setup 900 a few years ago...with everything stock except
for sport springs in the front, that car would sway/slide/oversteer at the
slightest provocation. (Anyone know Ed Walsh ’86 SPG, somewhere in Mass?)

The higher the rear end, the more influence that the passive rear steering has.
But you need to have a good amount of body roll to "activate" it, so that is probably
not causing any instability in this situation.

I think your spring setup is on-the-edge from having a the rear roll center significantly
higher than the front r.c. Then you push it over the edge by braking hard, which
raises the rear/lowers the front even more, plus the weight transfer hurts rear traction
so you don't have much to work with there...

Even with a great setup, the tendency is still there when braking at the limits. Just
something to be aware of.
