The oil which feeds the turbo unit is under the same pressure as the rest of the engine. What I did was cut that line (cleanly with a small pipe cutter) some 6 inches before the turbo, connect an oil cooler hose which runs down to the auto-tranny position o.c., then back up to the other piece going into the turbo unit. That piece was also turned 180 degrees so the cut tube faces the battery side of the engine for easy connection to the hose coming from the o.c. I'd recommend using 3/8 o.d. flexible aluminum tubing and compression fittings at both cut points and convert to the stock rubber o.c. hose some 12" away from the o.c.
The only reason why I did it was to help cool the oil before entering the turbo, sort of a midway point between a turbo unit with and without water cooling. I have no idea if it helps on any measurable scale, but I don't see how it can hurt. Crucial to an oil bearing designed turbo's health is keeping it free of carbonized oil, caused by cooking the oil to the point where grains of carbon develop. Those grains can then either block the entrance point, or pile up on the bottom of the turbo unit and clog up the exit hole.
