I recently purchased a '97 CSE anniv edition with auto trans. Same engine and trans as yours. I worked with Abbott racing for the following mods;
Sway bar and wish bone bushings, CAT back exhaust, ITG air filter, dump valve, intake pipe, waste gate. I set the turbo at 1 bar. This produced a nice increase in performance.....not like my Aero stick...but a nice driver, I then went to a Abbott ECU upgrade, reset the boost to 1.1bar which resulted in a very modest increase. hardly noticable. The boost gage reads into the hash marks. I will try a little further tweaking like plugs and various checks to see if I am getting the most for what I paid for. I can tell you that I am considering swapping the ECU back to stock as the performance gain is not worth the gas consumption. Love the car though. Bottom line ....the 240 HP and increase in torque gains claimed by ECU suppliers is suspect. if, with all the mods I have put into my CSE are producing 240/250 HP then My Aero was putting out 400 HP. That is the differecnce I feel between the two. My Aero, which is completely stock will stay at full boost in every gear right up to red line except in 5th......
