The turbo you want is the TD04HL-15T-6cm2, the only place to find this turbo is on the 94-98 9000 Aero. But Mitsubishi made a lot of different models of TD04’s and it’s easy to mix and match parts together to make the right turbo.

The Viggen turbo is the TD04HL-15T-5cm2. It has a smaller exhaust housing which gets choked at high rpms. It’s an upgrade over the T25 but wont easily hit the 300 hp mark on a 2.0L 9-3. The non-Aero 9000’s from 94-98 (and I believe some 9-5’s) have the TD04HL-15G-6cm2. This turbo has a smaller compressor than the Aero turbo but the same size exhaust housing. So since Aero turbos can be difficult to find you can you can add the larger exhaust housing from the non-Aero 9000’s to the Viggen turbo and make a TD04HL-15T-6cm2.

You will have to port the exhaust manifold to fit the larger housing, but this is easy. Downpipe will bolt up, but a custom intake pipe will work better than the stock pipes. All you need is some 2.5” tubing and a 90 silicone elbow. This just leaves the oil and water lines. Sourcing them from a junkyard will be the best choice, but you can have them custom made if you can’t find them.

With a better intercooler and crushed fpr you can hit 300 hp, without larger injectors. I have my fpr crushed to 3.7 bar and a custom SQR stage 3.5 is putting me a little over 280 hp.

900 SE - Just a better intercooler away from 300 hp.
