used on the 8 valves & old rabits & stuff I believe that the tach is run from the ignition amp not the ECU so that shouldent be efected by removing the ECU
you could set the base idle a lil high just a static setting with no IAC & use the cold enrichment to help on those cold mornings you would still prolly get some stalling when its realy cold
I think even on some of the older stand alone setups they have an output for an idle up solonoid (on off output rather than a dutycycle) for cold running & acsessory loads like AC & whatnot it would just be a matter of finding something that would work & wiring & mounting it
the boost controll is the APC which gets its tach signal from the ignition amp too so I dont think removing the ECU will be a problem there either
