to build a trans that would do what a few of us would like it to do would probably be tens of thousands of dollars realy it would need some major re engineering at least for the first one
the problem is a combination of problems the gears tooth count is too low the gears are too narrow the countershaft axle itself is too small many of the bearings in the trans are way too small & the case isent strong enough
in sweden they do a few things that make them much stronger by using the 4 speeds which has a stronger case at least one trick that Im aware of I think they have some better gear sets there also that they use in the 4 speeds too
these traneys are like $2500-$5000 if Im remembering corectly
even this is out of my league at this point anyway:-) unless I become a famous tuner :-)
Im gona have the gearset I use wet crack checked the case too & the gears will be shotpeaned & kryotreated & use all new bearings & countershaft axle
thats shooting my wod on it
the total build my cost will be under $500
I may have a 4 speed on the way as well & if I get that Ill do all of that to that trans instead of a 5 speed
Im no engineer but thats my understanding of the situation
