Actually, it seems the reverse is more true in higher output cars. The BOV or BPV is located closer to the TB than the current saab setup.
As the turbo spins, flow is directed through the IC, and upward to the TB so the closer to the TB, the less redirection the air needs to take. Why not relocate it right before the TBTC, or near the 90 degree bend on the t-7 so that when the throttle snaps shut, there is little redirection, just "left" instead of "straight", as opposed to "north" insead of "south." BOV and BPV's do have different flow rates and you can see that on porting size alone. Take a close look at the HKS SSQ BOV. It is massive. and it is gasket mounted, bolted right to the delivery pipe instead of using 3/4" ports. So you could increase outflow through a different valve. I'd rather shorten the distance to the TB than lengthen it for the BPV or BOV.
