My shifter looks like stock except for the adjustable ball/threads. It used the stock bearing assembly which uses plastic. The alternate bearing Chris mentioned is a great idea, wish I would have thought of it. I will get the shift alignment checked tomorrow morning at the dealer but it looks very close. I don't have any gear engagement problems just some tension entering the 1-2 gate, most likely the plastic bearing binding up a bit combined with a the slightly different angle of the bottom of the shifter. So I think this trip to the dealer will be a waste of time but I would rather play on the 'safe' side. I also have the throw adjusted very short, especially considering that I retained the reverse lockout. I did file down the lockout bridge a little.
The gear engagement is solid and going up the gears is okay, it's just coming down where I experience the resistance in entering the 1-2 gate.
