I dont know who is correct but I think the term is "dog leg" and it refers to the placement of first gear left and up while 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th are in an H pattern, like on euro E30 M3's, cause when you are racing (i guess depending on the track) you dont use first as much as the others.
But maybe "dog box" means something different.
