I totally agree with Ed on the long term wear and driveability factor. While it's true about going deep into the 235 with T-7, I feel that the 234 with T-5 is far cheaper to tune from the get-go. If you look at a few of the Swedish tuners sites that break down the 9000 tuning stages, you will see a very simple approach to hitting 400. Maptun is one of them, lots of Swedish customers cars with WAY too much power :o)
I think the reason that Kevin didn't pull more power is directly related to the sizing of the 18T-6 turbo and software. If he went with a big ol' snail shell and had Frank come down to tune in person(like he is with the Talladega project), I bet the results would have been very different. Kevin has an awesome approach to tuning, that leaves nothing untouched. He pays attention to everything on the car. I love this method. I think however, if he were to do it all over again, he may not have spent half of the time and money. He saved all of us a lot by showing us what did and didn't work. That all being said, I think Kevin reached his goal and made a VERY nice daily driver/track event car with a perfect balance of quality and consistent power. Like Ed said, 300whp is plenty for a front drive-daily driver. :o)
