Not only does it lower the octane like Jak mentioned, but it also decreases the oxygen density of the intake air (the denser the oxygen concentration in the air the bigger HP) but most importantly, it leaves a fine film of oil on the inlet tract which attaches itself to the insides of the intercooler and plumbing which DOES NOT help heat transfer - in essence, the oil is acting like insulation on your intercooler keeping the air nice and warm.
