Morning, it doesn't look stock but it also doesn't look ghetto. I made a cardboard template of the space between the fender and the top of the hood. Traced that template on a piece of shiny aluminum sheet from Home Depot. Used some snips and then attached to the firewall. Did all sorts of calculations and thought about re-routing the entire air intake/turbo plumbing. Still am going to make a home-made exhaust heat shield.
Also thought about different routes to the turbo such as hole in the bumber with a screen and filter behind it. A filter down in the lower fender. What I am probably going to end up doing is pay someone to make some hood vents. One to an isolated air intake box and one or two to remove heat. That takes more time - thermometers and test for pressure gradients. A turbo advantage is a turbo will tend to get air in a lower pressure area over a NA intake so air intake placement is easier.
I may be driving around with things on my hood but my neighbors are used to that. :-) They think it's nuts that I drive one of 'them there fereign' cars...
