Looking for thoughts about a Civic's performance.....

A buddy of a buddy has a 93ish Honda Civic with a modified engine. His dyno run resulted in 220 h.p. and 240 of lb/ft torque (I am assuming these numbers refer to "at the crank"). Admittedly in a 1/4 mile situation, this car would get to the finish line before a 9000 Aero that is running about 290 h.p. (at the crank) because his Civic is basically 1000 lbs lighter. However, mr. ricer also believes that his car is faster at any speed - regardless if it is off the line or not. For instance, he believed that if his Civic and a 290 h.p. Aero were cruising side by side at about 50 m.p.h (80 km/h)and both cars gunned it, the civc would win...hands down. I personally think he is full of huey. In my mind, the civic would get the start for the first second or so, but once the turbo was up and spinning, it would be over for Ricer boy...he would be reading "Aero" all the way... until he could read it no more! ;) Is this a fair conclusion? Please.. do share.
