what year aero is it?
is it an auto or stick?
are you running the 7ES plugs gaped to about .034?
when did you last change the fuel filter?
when did you last change the boost pressure controll soloniod?
how old is the DI casette?
you arent realy saving $$ by running crapy fuel
your car uses more crapy fuel than it does good fuel because of adaption do to pre ignition caused by poor quality fuel which retards timing & ads more fuel to corect it
intermittant boost issues often are either pre ignition (mabey exhaust restriction bad cat?)or a bad BPV,warn or rong plugs, bad DI casette
you should have your base boost set to about 6 lbs if its set more than that you arent realy letting the ECU do its job as it was intended to & you are probably covering for another root issue
the technician you are using unless he set the base boost properly & the problem was solved wasent doing his best work when he cranked up the base boost
putting in an upgraded ECU will probably show whatever problem you have even more
also the requirements of an ECU realy need to be met to take full advantage of the software so if we say 3 inch turbo to tailpipe that means 3 inch turbo to tailpipe :-)
my NG is a good example Im running a 3 inch DP with magnaflow cat a K&N drop in & stock cat back & crapy IC one of my customer cars has the same ECU I do & his car boosts higher & more consistantly than mine & he is running the vigen IC with JT turbo back in SS
Ill be doing my cat back this week & have a nice bar & plate IC in there shortly as well
often like 70% of the time when tuning cars there are issues which are uncovered durring tuning & have to be diagnosed usualy a bad DI or BPV show up to be the problem
& they can perform badly its not like they work or they dont allways & a bad BPV can take out your ECU too :-( whereas the bad DI can take out your cat :-(
I know these parts are expensive but if they arent working rite your car just wont perform as intended & I cant tell you how many times I saw frank say change the DI & or the BPV & solve the problem & once again he has the saab racing team in sweden he is one to be listened to....
I would advise you pull the plugs & look at the porcelin insulator for carbon tracks from the tip to the hex that you put the socket onto then if they arent pretty new replace them with NGK 7ES not 6ES
next smell each coil on the DI & look for signs of oil leakage at each coil (if the older style)
try spraying brake cleaner & WD40 thru the BPC then gently blow it out with air & see if that helps the car run better if it does pay atention to if the boost sticks high sometimes & low others it this is the case just change it
set your base boost back to 6 lbs trionic cars dont run better with higher base boost
I sure ley wish you the best with that please let me know if you find out anything or of anything I typed was helpful
take care & enjoy the rest of your weekend:-)
