Powerchips will definitely help with some real HP and TQ gains, but don't expect too much. Essentially, their reprogramming optimizes your engine's combustion to use 93 octane -- and 93 octane ONLY - producing greater HP and higher torque. You car is currently set to allow a range of octane levels from about 87 to 94 (the range of currently available US gasoline supplies). You get better performance with the higher octane, better mileage with the lower octane. If your car's ECU didn't need to accept a variety of gas grades, it could get that better performance more consistently and, to some degree, gain power. That's where Powerchips comes in.
This will likely be a good option for n/a folks because your power-improvement options are currently limited to some big-ticket items such as new cams, headers, bored-out throttle body, etc...The biggest appeal of the ECU change is that it's a plug-n-play upgrade.
