My fiance's family lives here in Asheville, so I've had some opportunities to see downtown. I have already fallen in love with Barley's Tap Room !!!(excellent pizza and great rare beers on draught) Last year we came down for the big music festival, the name of which escaps me right now. Much fun, and really cool people.
This is my first time in Asheville with my SPG, and I might have had a little too much fun on the parkway... my fiance was riding with me and did not enjoy getting pressed against the side window 10 times or so. I got a nice talking to for that one. Anyway, I used to have a Porsche 944 S, and I had it on the parkway more than once. The SPG blows the Pork Chop away in every respect: roadholding in turns, boosting out of turns, braking and gear slowing for hard turns. The sense of control in the SPG is noticeably improved over my 944. I have added the polyurethane sway bar bushings, 16" rims, lo-pro tires with super stiff side walls, and drilled rotors, though, which are two things the Porsche never got. I will be stepping up to Bilsteins all around, soon, too.
Where are you going to school in Durham? Please don't say DOOK! I went to UNC (just graduated). Take care and good luck!
Mike
