the power at the wheels was about 165 bhp (I don't have the printout anymore as I gave it to the new owner). This was a 1993 2.3 full turbo automatic with 3" JT exhaust.

The tester said this was equivalent to about 205 bhp flywheel and was the output they normally got from the Ford Sierra Cosworth engines (rated at 204 bhp) when in 2-wheel drive spec.

If true, this is a tadge under 20% drivetrain loss. Can't see there would be much difference between auto and manual in lock-up top gear. But obviously dyno machines vary!
