was covered in sand. I was going to put the new head on my 85 last night. Only to find my 2 yr old had gotten in to the sand blasting media and placed a couple hand fulls of sand right on top of my head. Granted it was covered with a plastic bag, there was a small hole that some sand had gotten in to. Had the gasket already and a friend had changed his plans to help me. Pulled the bag off only to discover the cams had been peppered with sand. Real fine sand. In my mind the only thing to do here is wash it out with gas and take it back to be rebuilt, and cleaned.
At the same time I was thinking I might take my intake and exhaust and have them ported and polished? I spent 420 for the rebuild of the head, which was one new cam(intake 2.1), valve job, resurface, and brass guides for the exhaust side. Has anybody ever done a polish job on our old 900's? I have heard mixed things from doing this.
Sorry, just needed to vent a little. This whole ordeal is going to prevent me from going to SOC now, So I'm pretty upset about it! I was really looking forward to seeing and meeting everybody face to face.
Life goes on!
Tim
