Hi.
I've autocrossed my dearly departed SPG and it was not really a great car for it. It's heavy, FWD, suffers from turbo lag, etc... That being said, it was still lots of fun. However, that was my daily driver and it sounds like your in a place where you can just get a car to run as a fun car, so I have to ask, why a Saab? They are great cars and there fun to drive, but if you can pick whatever you want and you're just looking to auto-cross and not worried about all of the other tangible benefits of a Saab, I'd get a Miata, CRX, Mini, VW Golf, or something similar. Saabs are fairly heavy because they are safe, luxurious cars. Not a good recipe for a great auto-cross vehicle.
If you really want to do this in a saab, I'd get a Sonnett.
