I have seen a lot of folks who've gone out and got themselves a high flow pod style air filter, and clamped it right up to the air meter, which leaves it sitting smack dab behind the intercooler. Now, I don't wanna sound like a know it all, but doesn't mounting the source of your intake air right next to a heat source seem self defeating? This freshly compressed, hot air moves through the IC, dumping it's heat to it, which is transferred to the air that flows over the IC fins, and then straight into the mouth of what should be fed a strict diet of cool air. When mounting the filter the easy way, you take heat from the back end and put back in the front, sabotaging the intercooler's attempt to bring air density back to favourable levels.
