i agree. there's other options some folks have taken but the choices are limited unless you have an FMIC. some have gone through the inner fender wall, some have just cut out the base of the stock air box and installed a screen so the air is less inhibited and sucks up from below which allows some fresher air, and im sure there are other options.
there might be come advantage to the increased flow with the k&n there but a drawback of heat probably offsets the power increase a little.
