Well depending on milage and considering that your going to tune it I would make sure everything is perfect. Forget the powder coated stuff until you do whats important. While your in there do the front and rear crank seals, check the oil pump to see if it is still good, might want to do the o-ring. Depending on milage I would check the bearings, both the big end(connecting rod) bearings and the crankshaft bearings and replace them if they are worn. You also might want to consider piston rings. Around $200 for all those parts and you would need a few more gaskets but worth it if you wan to do it right. Also consider a mild head porting. Thats what I did anyway. About valve springs, you can get higher rated springs but valve lift is controlled by the camshaft, dont know if there would be a large benefit to different springs. thats all i got.
