Use a drill stop to make sure you don't hit anything on the blind side. I know if an airplane crash that was caused when the mechanic nicked a fuel line, which failed in flight.
Anything wrong with using the holes that are already there? It was easy for my AF meter, because the wires had to go to the ECU on the right side, and there were plugs in the holes for the English version of the car.
